Hi my name is Saara! I have been doing historical re-enacting since 1998. I have a deep passion for food history and cooking. This is my virtual kitchen where I put my recipes and thoughts about historical food mainly focusing on medieval period. At the moment I am most interested in 14-15th century cooking. I am not a professional cook in real life but I am very very interested in all about cooking also modern. I work as an officer at one Finnish city.

I am a member of a re-enacting group called Merry Swan. In SCA I am also known as Mistress Eva Grelsdotter.

I have written a cooking book Saffron, Eggs and Almondmilk – The Medievalist Cook Book with my friends Mervi Pasanen and Nanna Tuovinen.

Let hem boyle.. was created after a personal yearlong cooking challenge “One Year and Thousand Eggs “. I hope that I manage to make medieval cooking look easy enough so those who have never tried to cook medieval food would be inspired too.

Hei olen Saara! Olen harrastanut historian elävöitystä vuodesta 1998. Ruuanlaitto ja ruokahistoria ovat erittäin lähellä sydäntäni. Tämä on minun virtuaalikeittiö, jonne kerään erilaisia keskiaikaisia ja renessanssinaikaisia ruokareseptejä sekä ajatuksia historiallisesta ruuanlaitosta.

Kuulun Räätäliliike Iloisen Joutsenen historianelävöitys- ryhmään. Iloinen Joutsen kiertää mm. erilaisilla keskiaikaisilla markkinoilla opettamassa historiallisia käsityötaitoja. SCA:ssa minut tunnetaan paremmin Mestari Eva Grelsdotterina.

Let hem boyle.. . sai alkunsa siitä, kun halusin jatkaa ruokareseptien kokeilua ja jakamista ”One year and thousand eggs” haasteen jälkeen. Haasteessa kokkasin ja blogasin ruokia Take a thousand eggs or more –kirjoista, joiden lähteenä ovat englantilaiset 1400-luvun ruokareseptit.
